The Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking an individual to work in public service as an Insurance Investigator in its Office of Insurance Licensing, Investigations, and Audits. This position is an opportunity to build a lifelong career doing work that truly matters – helping to protect consumers and maintaining public confidence in Michigan’s insurance industry. This position serves as an investigator responsible for reviewing and investigating allegations of unlicensed insurance activity, misconduct by licensed individuals and entities, and other potential violations of the Michigan Insurance Code, applicable rules, and other laws administered by DIFS. Investigations may involve insurance producers, agencies, adjusters, insurers, and other regulated individuals and entities. The investigator reviews complaints and referrals, gathers and analyzes records and other evidence, conducts interviews, conducts research regarding licensing and regulatory information, and evaluates the information obtained to identify potential violations.
