Incumbents of positions in this series prepare sign letters, designs, stencils and patterns; lay out, sketch or follow designs and patterns; create and paint regulatory, warning, historic and other highway and traffic signs; letter doors; and perform related work as required. The basic purpose of this work is to create a variety of signs and related illustrative materials using hand painting and lettering.
