Automotive Technician I, II, III

Automotive Technician I: The purpose of this classification is to perform routine maintenance and light repair of County-owned vehicles and equipment. Automotive Technician II: The purpose of this classification is to perform maintenance and repair of County-owned vehicles and equipment. Automotive Technician III: The purpose of this classification is to perform maintenance and repair or County-owned vehicles and equipment and to provide lead guidance and training to less experienced Automotive Technicians. Distinguishing Characteristics Tech I: Positions in this class are primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance and light repairs of vehicles. Tech II: Positions in this class assist with more complex repairs and are expected to independently perform maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles requiring routine diagnosis, removing and replacing parts, and troubleshooting for common automotive problems. Tech III: Positions in this class take the lead in performing the most complex diagnosis and repair of fleet vehicles, including full engine, transmission, and rear-end work.
