Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades or the Chief Engineer, the Carpenter II, plans, lays out, and inspects construction and repair work according to plans and specifications. Working with a crew of carpenters, other trades people or incarcerated workers and in correlation with other trades, demonstrates the best methods of performing carpentry, masonry, tile, and fence work. Enforce safety rules and regulations. Supervise the conduct of incarcerated people; prevent escapes and injuries to themselves and others, or to state property. Always supervise incarcerated workers. Maintain the security of working areas and work materials; conduct routine searches of incarcerated workers work areas for contraband such as weapon or illegal drugs and report any findings to the supervisor and custody immediately.
