Network Engineer (Management Information Systems) (Provisional)

The Network Engineer is responsible for overseeing and performing the configuring, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting of data networks, personal computers, servers, switches, IP Phones and other communications, to the wide area network. The incumbent works with other MIS employees to solve problems of network operating systems. General supervision is received from a higher-level MIS administrator or a designee, with wide leeway allowed for planning and carrying out the details of the work. Supervision is not a function of this position. Installs, maintains, configures and trouble shoots data networks using network protocols of Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol and Ethernet; Configures modems, frame relays, multiplexes and routers; Manages call manager server and other VOIP equipment for adds, moves and changes; Plans, implements and supports network solutions between multiple platforms; Ensures system efficiency and integrity; Plans, coordinates, implements and maintains security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure; Analyzes applications for client/server architectu
