PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (PROVISIONAL)

Incumbents in this position perform routine observation and enforcement work of the parking ordinances of the City of Buffalo and State of New York. This position is characterized by a broad responsibility for the issuance of parking summonses for violations on city streets, public/private property on a daily basis. Incumbents may be required to work any of the three shifts including weekends performing duties. They are guided by policy, procedures and specific guidelines in terms of services to be provided. Incumbents receive general directions and supervision from superiors. Issues summonses for parking violations to conform with established departmental procedures on a daily basis: - accurately completes related forms daily; - enters information regarding parking violations on a hand-held computer and printer; - applies vehicle immobilizer (boot) when necessary. Patrols city highways and districts on foot or in city-owned vehicles: - maintains fluid levels, tire inflation and cleanliness of city-owned vehicles; Receives radio dispatched parking complaints and general directions in accordance with accepted radio communication practices.
