WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR I (PROVISIONAL)

Incumbents to positions in this class assist in the operation and/or maintenance of equipment and machinery in a sewage treatment plant. Duties are not as complex and responsible as that of a Wastewater Operator II, who is the primary operator in the plant. Work requires incumbents to have mechanical aptitude in order to repair and overhaul electrical and mechanical equipment in the plant. The activities performed by incumbents are thing-orientated and are governed in accordance with established procedures and written operating procedures for the sewage treatment plant and any guidelines set by the regulating agencies. Duties are performed in either a Primary or Secondary Sewage Treatment Plant. Immediate supervision is received from the Shift Superintendent (Sewage Treatment) or Wastewater Operator II.
