Applications Accepted from: All Persons Interested Service Line/Section: Utility Billing/Meter Services Location: 2700 Dalton Street Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.* *Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under close to moderate supervision, read 5/8-inch to 2-inch water meters visually and accurately for the purpose of ensuring timely water billing. The Water Service Technician I duties will include but are not limited to: Reports water consumption by locating and reading water meters to ensure an accurate reading. Performs on/off tests on 5/8-inch to 2-inch meters to ensure meter is accurately read. Identifies and reports asset status, such as damaged or missing meter boxes/lids. Manually read water meters. Report leak indicators such as constant flow of water while performing meter reading duty. Learn/know how to read a Key-Map book and utilize it in the absence of GPS. Reports meter information in the field using mobile application system. Removes dirt/debris from meter boxes to ensure accessibility. May perform other departmental duties as assigned.
