The Engineer 3 (Traffic Engineer) position serves as a senior technical resource within the NDOT Traffic Engineering division and collaborates closely with signal technicians, engineering staff, contractors, and partner agencies to support the effective operation of Nashville’s traffic signal network. In this position, the incumbent will routinely work in the field to monitor and analyze traffic concerns around the city and make improvements. They will also work closely with NDOT’s Traffic Management Center addressing traffic problems in real time. The Traffic Engineer will receive directions from the Chief Traffic Engineer. Performs other related duties as assigned. The Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure delivers a range of services, and the nearly 400 employees work around the clock to ensure a multimodal system that offers choice and better connects neighborhoods, residents, businesses and visitors to the place that they need and want to go to in a safe manner.
